I know I’m a few days late on this, but I have to tell you guys about First Aid Kit’s show! It was this past Friday at Black Cat, which is one of my favorite venues in DC. I’d been looking forward to this show for months, so I was quite glad I was able to get off work in time to head over to Black Cat early and get a good spot in line. Lauren and I snagged front row spots when we were finally let in!
As you can see in the picture above, they played pretty much every song from The Lion’s Roar. That made me super happy. It was really great to hear songs from their first album, too, though, because it made me fall in love with those tracks. And in fact, the most memorable song of the night was probably “Ghost Town”. They asked everyone to quiet down so that they could play it acoustically, and so many people sang along, so it was incredibly moving. Surprisingly, that was the only song I really teared up for…I was honestly expecting to be a mess throughout the whole show, haha.
Another highlight for me was making eye contact with Klara multiple times. My heart swelled when she’d look at me and I’d be singling along and she’d smile. Just thinking about it now brings a huge smile to my face. Girl crush alert.
Once the show was over, Lauren and I waited around to meet Klara and Johanna. I hugged Klara, they signed my set list, we talked a bit, and then I walked away on a cloud. They’re really the sweetest and I can’t wait to see them again at Newport Folk Fest.
